Minneola Community Garden
A space for learning, growth, and gathering
The City of Minneola wanted a inviting space that entices its more of its residents into the outdoors, so they asked Inspire to help improve the community garden in East Chester Street Park.
The Chester Street Community Garden already offered a place for local engagement but needed updates to meet accessibility needs and support a wider range of community desires, such as more seating, shade, and lighting; better cleanliness; and ease of use with items like compost bins. The City sought a thoughtful design approach that respected the garden’s informal character while creating a more comfortable and inclusive space.
Inspire developed a conceptual and schematic site plan shaped by analysis of existing conditions and ongoing community input. The design introduced clearer pedestrian circulation, additional parking, additional plots, and enhancements that support gardeners of different experience levels and mobility needs -- even a "kiddie" bed where children can try out their green thumbs. Inspire also prepared a Florida-native landscape plan and collaborated with lrri Design Studio to produce a complete irrigation plan. The resulting design remains simple and adaptable while offering meaningful upgrades to the garden's functions.
