Seminole County Wayfinding and Signage
Connecting
communities
Seminole County sought to create a cohesive branding and wayfinding system for its extensive trail network, which spans urban, suburban, and natural areas. This initiative included conceptual signage design, cost estimation, illustrative map development, and a usage guide to ensure consistency and clarity across all trail facilities.
The county’s trail system is a major asset, connecting neighborhoods, schools, and regional destinations while supporting active transportation and tourism. With growing demand for safe, accessible trails and an increasing emphasis on health and wellness, the county recognized the need for a unified signage program that reinforces its brand identity as "Florida's Natural Choice" and provides clear, user-friendly information for diverse trail users.
Inspire developed a comprehensive signage concept that integrates branding, functionality, and durability. The design includes a variety of sign types tailored to specific needs — navigational, informational, trailhead, directory, and mile markers. Signage elements specify not only trail names and general directional information, but also allowable vehicle types, nearby neighborhoods and landmarks, safety callouts, proximity to traffic signals, and QR codes for digital engagement. Structural details feature aluminum frames, reflective banding for visibility, and decorative hardware for aesthetic appeal. Color palettes and graphic elements were carefully selected to align with Seminole County’s "natural" brand identity, creating a visually consistent experience across the entire trail network.
The signage program created by Inspire provides a clear roadmap for implementation, offering cost estimates and a usage guide to support long-term maintenance and adaptability. By branding the trail system as a unified network, the project enhances wayfinding, promotes outdoor recreation, and strengthens the county’s identity as a leader in active transportation and environmental stewardship.
