SoDo Line Trail
A multi-modal trail to further enhance a thriving redevelopment district
The City of Orlando worked with Inspire to develop conceptual design services for the O‑Line Trail, a proposed multi‑use pedestrian and bicycle facility from Downtown Orlando through the SoDo (South Downtown) District. Envisioned to run roughly parallel to the CSX/SunRail corridor, the trail will link vital transportation facilities including the Orlando Urban Trail and the city's commuter and passenger rail stations. The project seeks to introduce a continuous, high‑quality mobility corridor that enhances connectivity, encourages active transportation, and supports the city’s long‑term vision for multimodal mobility.
The SoDo District is a vibrant, rapidly transforming neighborhood known for its industrial character and home to Orlando Health’s main campus. As the area continues to evolve, the demand for safe, comfortable, and connected bike and pedestrian infrastructure has increased. Establishing a “green spine” through the district supports local mobility needs, complements ongoing redevelopment, and strengthens the district’s identity as a walkable and livable urban center.
Inspire developed the conceptual trail design and provided master planning for the overall alignment, ensuring strong connections to existing and planned mobility assets. The design explored opportunities for off‑street paths parallel to the rail corridor, enhanced streetscape elements, functional trailheads, and seamless access to transit stations. The concept also emphasized the creation of a green, linear public space that integrates landscaping, shade, and safety features to enhance the user experience.
